QNET Turkey did their bit to uphold the ‘Raise Yourself To Help Mankind’ principle by volunteering with a local NGO to serve hot soup to homeless people during the holy month of Ramadan. QNET Turkey joined forces with Çorbada Tuzun Olsun Association, a name which translates to ‘Add Salt to the Soup’, to get one step closer to our goal of Touching a Billion Hearts.
QNET Turkey staff and IRs spent two separate days with the organisation and helped with the cooking and distributing of soup, rice, bread and dessert to the homeless around Istanbul city. The activities were a way for QNET staff to give back to the community they are working in, and to bring smiles on the faces of the homeless people they went out to help.
Çorbada Tuzun Olsun Association has been helping people who have no choice but to live on the street by feeding them hot and fresh food, believing that a bowl of hot soup is vital for them. They believe that distributing soup also gives the homeless people an opportunity to interact with fellow human beings and to prevent them from becoming numb in the face of society’s rejection. Their project starts with a bowl of soup, and then blossoms into more in-depth programmes including job finding services and therapy.
